Adiemus is a series of albums by the Welsh composer Karl Jenkins. It is also the title of the first track on the first album, Songs of Sanctuary . Each Adiemus album is a collection of musical works with harmonious vocal melodies against an orchestral background. There are no lyrics, except syllables composed by Jenkins and "words" sung by vocalists. Many of the "words" have a Latin or African sound. The core of the Adiemus concept is that the voice should function solely as an instrument.
